About the Resort

A British surveyor called William Cameron discovered the Highlands in 1885 and brought back praise of "this fine plateau with gentle slopes shut in by 'lofty mountains'" to his Government. Then Sir Hugh Low, a Resident in Malaya suggested Cameron Highlands as a resort for "health, pleasure, gardening or farming purposes".

41 years after William Cameron had sung its beauty to the world, Cameron Highlands received its first step towards the resplendent glory that we see today.

Roads were constructed, reservations zoned, cottages and hotels built, recreational areas and parks planned, vegetable and fruit farms tilled and tea plantations were established.

It is said 'that the Highlands' first holiday-maker came in the form of wealthy Chinese businessman who sought the solitude of the hills by building a mansion for seasonal visits. With the building of rest-houses and hotels, numerous British civil servants stationed in Malaya flocked here, taking to the cool weather as if they were back home in England.

When the Second World War broke out, the Highlands saw no more visitors except for holidaying Japanese officials at various rest houses/bungalows during the Japanese Occupation of Malaya. When peace returned to the country, so did holiday-makers, tourists and lovers of wild beauty and cool hills of this Utopia.

It is here that the legendary 'Thai Silk King' Jim Thompson, mysteriously disappeared in the forests, hence and beauty, mystery to the beauty and adventures that Cameron Highlands has to offer.

Nature created the beauteousness of Cameron Highlands. A refuge tucked away in the North East of the Pahang mountains, a never-ending pleasure astonishing all the senses of the mind. To see, smell, hear and touch the loveliness of Cameron Highlands is to harmonise with the purity of Mother Nature.

Strawberry Park Resort is the creation of an inspiration of Cameron Highlands. Strawberry Park Resort offers vacation rooms and exclusive recreational facilities and services against the "cool days of 21 degree Centigrade and colder nights of 10 degree Centigrade stretching the enjoyment of these hills in the tradition of Cameron Highlands".

Strawberry Park Resort is a touch of mountain rustic with dash of city sophistication. Between these extremes, it is the Highlands' most charming, truly beautiful set of vacation rooms, giving delight to its occupants.
